NCJETS Trebuchet Agenda, Jobs and Job Descriptions:

Agenda

8:00 – 9:00 Busses arrive
8:30 – 12:00 Accuracy Competition
9:30 – 12:30 Distance Competition
1:00 – 1:30 Award Ceremony

Play-by-Play Here is a description of how we hope the day will go

Check-in

Volunteer to check teams in by name (preferable one member who has done so in the past)

  • Get the team names from the kids
  • Write down team names that are present
  • Assign teams to tracks as they arrive
  • Give checked in teams list to runner to go to accuracy station

Volunteer (Size Verification)

  • Check size constraints of the trebuchets by placing them in a predrawn 6' square on the ground
  • Check to make sure the height of the trebuchet arm is 5'6” max when uncocked

Judging:

Accuracy Judge:

  • Confirm team name,
  • Check each tennis ball before it is thrown.
  • Write down the score on the score sheet.
  • Give score sheet to runner when done.

Distance Judge:

  • Confirm team name,
  • Check each tennis ball before it is thrown.
  • Write down the score on the score sheet.
  • Give score sheet to runner when done.

Accuracy Judge Volunteer(flaggers/runners)

  • Assist the judges in anything they might need (calling us for rule clarification, etc.)
  • Mark the places the tennis balls land as close as they can
  • Measure how far a ball is from the center line,
  • Call out the scores to the judge,
  • Run scores to the Accuracy scoring station while next team is setting up

Distance Volunteer (flaggers/runners)

  • Assist the judges in anything they might need (calling us for rule clarification, etc.)
  • Mark the places the tennis balls land as close as they can
  • Measure how far a ball is from the shooting box
  • Call out the scores to the judge,
  • Run scores to the distance scoring station while next team is setting up

Scoring:

Volunteer (Accuracy Scoring)

  • Calculating scoring data based on diversity points as they all come in and placing them in the order of highest score to lowest score.

Volunteer (Distance Scoring)

  • Placing results in order from highest score to lowest score

Notebook Grader Volunteers

  • Read and score trebuchet notebooks based on rubric

Volunteer (Directing Buses)

  • Standing at strategic spots to direct buses to the event
